Inner thoughts & societal experiences.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Currently based in Los Angeles, CA.
CTMR labs is a pseudonymous solo think tank, a place to visually communicate the relationship of natural physical law and my lived experiences as a young millennial in a rapidly changing world. Finding biases—conscious and unconscious—around personal identities such as gender, economic background, race, etc., my work as a multidisciplinary artist within CTMR labs gives me a medium to nurture my ideas, liberating them from the constraints of those biases.
I approach historical, social, and personal phenomena like a photojournalist, visually documenting mass social changes and personal evolution.
With a framework based on fundamental principles in process engineering such as conservation of mass, concentration gradients, material properties & flow paths, CTMR labs functions to bridge phenomena that govern the natural world to explore and deconstruct complex physical and emotional interconnected systems to their most elemental shapes and behaviors.
Influenced by artistic movements such as abstraction, neo-expressionism, and minimalism, I use reductive shapes, configurations, and symmetry as motifs that work within each piece to describe social experiences in the world today. My work evolves in a spatially deliberate and reflective nature, using vivid, effective colors in highly textural brushstrokes.
CTMR is simultaneously a statement of originality and inventiveness, with a play on trademarking and copyrighting—itself a mimicry of the phenomena of financial and estate building in the art world.
